MyHealth Africa has raised $1 million in seed funding to expand its services in Africa and beyond. The Kenyan-based health tech startup aims to improve patient access by connecting them with local and international hospitals and other healthcare providers.

Founded in 2017, MyHealth Africa is a full-service, integrated healthcare platform aiming to solve inefficiencies, improve health services and develop healthcare systems. Founder and CEO Ryan Marincowitz started the company as a platform that provides healthcare booking and medical management systems.

The company offers user-centered services via its website and mobile application for patients to get efficient medical treatment virtually and for doctors to reach more patients online.

With the fund, the company will expand its services across Africa in 2023. Then, it will establish a presence in the Middle East and South Asia — the second and third-largest markets in the healthcare industry.

“We assist hundreds of patients each month from these two markets to access specialized healthcare services at our network of leading hospitals in the Middle East, Europe, South Asia, and Asia, currently from our office in Kenya,” Marincowitz said.

The funding round was led by GIIG Africa Fund, with participation from Samurai VC and other investors. It was the company’s second capital-raising round since it received an undisclosed amount of funds led by Founders Factory Africa in 2021.
